Pay It Forward: Blogger Style

Early last month, I got an email from one of those big, inspiring, has-more-followers-than-I-get-page-views-in-a-month bloggers, Rachel. She wanted to offer me a free ad space on her blog! I was so honored, especially because Rachel is primarily a travel blogger, and that's why I originally started this blog: to record and share my travels. This all came about because of a little project called Pay It Forward started by Stephanie at Be So Happy.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the movie. (If not: go rent it now. It's amazing.) Stephanie took the principle from the movie and applied it to blogland: She would pay three bloggers a favor, and those bloggers would each pay three bloggers a favor, and so on and so forth. I happened to be one of Rachel's lucky three!

To uphold my end of the deal, I paid the favor forward to three other bloggers by offering them guest posts and ad space on my blog. Stephanie wanted us to choose bloggers we didn't interact with typically for this project, so I picked two blogs I had recently started following and one blog I had previously only interacted with through a weekly link-up. Unfortunately, I didn't get one of the guest posts before this link-up, but I was excited about the two I received! Read their posts here:

Bonus: Even though I had seldom interacted with these bloggers before this project, working together has definitely led me to consider them new blog friends, and it's great! :)

I'm writing this post now so I can link up with Stephanie on Tuesday and see what all the other bloggers did for their favors. A huge thanks to Rachel for including me in this project; I think it's a wonderful idea and I hope it turns into a regular thing! :)

Did any of you participate in this project? Would you be interested in the future?

  1. This is such a cool idea!! I'm a fairly new blogger, so I can definitely see the merit in a project like this. It's certainly something I could see myself participating in, if possible.

  2. What an awesome idea. A person in front of me at the Dunkin Donuts drive-thru paid for my coffee this week and I am hoping to do the same!
