Winter 2014 Book Challenge: Month 3

Greetings! How is everyone doing? I, for one, am super excited that I read several non-challenge books recently and still only have one category left. Woohoo! Congrats to the five people who have finished already.* And for those who haven't—you still have one whole month left! And if you don't finish, oh well. :) I just hope you found some books you loved along the way and pushed your reading choices out of your comfort zone. If you're new to the challenge, feel free to review the rules for the winter challenge here and jump right in with all the books you've read since November 1. Continue reading after the jump to see the current scoreboard and learn how to check in with your progress.

Please comment on this post in the following format to check in. Please do not forget page numbers! Remember all books must be at least 200 pages long unless otherwise specified. You may also link to your reviews or own check-in post if you wish, but that is not required; we operate on the honor code. However, I do ask that you include a simple rating next to each book in your check-in post (on a scale of 1 to 5 stars), per the request of past participants. Also, please note that categories involving multiple books (e.g. read two books with meals in the titles) do not earn any points until the entire category is completed.
10 points: Read a book with a food in the title. — The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Society, Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows (274 pages, 5 stars)
15 points: Read a book that was originally written in a language that is not your native language. — The Bookseller of Kabul, Asne Seierstad (originally published in Norwegian in 2002, first published in English in 2003; 320 pages, 3 stars)
25 points: Read a book from a genre you don't usually read. — This Book is Overdue!: How Librarians and Cybrarians Can Save Us All (nonfiction—though I enjoy narrative nonfiction from time to time, I do not typically read straight nonfiction outside of school; 272 pages, 5 stars)
30 points: Read two books with a different meal in each title. — The Dinner, Herman Koch (306 pages, 2 stars) & A Moveable Feast, Ernest Hemingway (236 pages, 2 stars)
PREVIOUS POINTS: 100
TOTAL POINTS: 180
I'm currently reading Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West for my book with a direction in the title, so unless something highly unusual happens this month, I should definitely finish!

Please record your progress thus far by February 10 in order to be included in the next scoreboard, which will be posted with the final check-in on March 1. Good luck!

*To the first five finishers listed above: You've each won the chance to choose a category for the summer 2015 challenge! Feel free to comment on this post with your suggested category or email me at semicharmedkol[at]gmail[dot]com. No rush—you have until April 1 to send me your category! :)
