Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself; my name is Melissa and I blog over at Press Play. I write about many things, but mainly about reading, music, traveling, goals, and the everyday moments in life that inspire me.
Today, the lovely Megan and I decided we’d swap blogs! We have a lot in common-especially our love of books, travel, and accomplishing goals. I decided to combine all of them into my “ideal day”… If I could live one day HOWEVER I wanted, this is what I’d like it to look like:
8am: Wake up in a far away country from my home in Montreal. Ideally it would be somewhere with beautiful beaches and lots of sunshine like Australia, Thailand, or even Greece. I was in Greece last summer but I would go back there in a heartbeat. It’s gorgeous.
The view from my window when I woke up every morning in Mykonos- I wouldn’t mind this every day! |
9am: Dressed and ready to take on the day! This would be the perfect time to head to a nearby coffee or breakfast place to grab some food. When I was in Santorini, there was a corner restaurant that served the most amazing waffles with coffee I’ve possibly ever had in my life… That sounds like the kind of thing I could get used to!
10am: Breakfast and morning coffee are finished, this would be around the time that I would decide which beach I wanted to spend the day at, and make my way over there to spend a few hours enjoying the gorgeous day. I would get to my beach of choice, lay my towel on a chair (and have a parasol nearby for some shade) and spend the next couple hours reading a good book.
I wouldn’t mind re-reading a favorite novel, even. I’ve been meaning to re-open The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, or maybe a funny book like Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty!
When I travel with friends, we know that beach time is key. I’m second from the left, deep in a good book! Taken in Cuba. |
1pm: After 3 hours in the sun and in the water, I’ll probably be starving. Time to get my lazy butt up to find food. I’m all about local cuisine, so any diner or little restaurant on the beach sounds great to me.
2pm: I’ve been lazy enough, time to see the city I’m in. Now that I’m full, I would head back to my hotel, shower and change into something comfortable.
3pm: Head out into a nearby town to visit! As much as I love beaches, I love walking around and soaking up a new culture too. Usually whoever I travel with feels the same way, and besides, we don’t want to overdo it with the sun. Our afternoon would be spent walking the streets, taking in the beautiful sights, and taking loads of photos!
7pm: I’m probably starving again. I love to eat, especially on vacation! There is always so much good food in the different parts of the world; I need to try it all! Time to find a nice, well-known restaurant in town for a yummy dinner!
8:30pm: Delicious food is done & a couple drinks have been consumed, this is usually around the time that the sun sets. Time to find a nice spot to watch it set. Whenever you travel, make the time to watch the sun. It’s ridiculously beautiful, especially when it sets over the Mediterranean Sea!
The sky just as the sun dips over the horizon in the Calera of Santorini, Greece! |
9:30pm: The rest of the night is free to do whatever I please. Ideally, this will include some delicious dessert and a little bit of shopping before heading back to the hotel for a good nights’ sleep! Of course there are the nights where you have to go out and party- I mean, you can’t properly take in a new culture without seeing how fun their bars are, ha :)
I think my ideal day is overall the exact kind of thing I do on vacation- that might be why I love to travel so much! In my mind, there is no greater feeling than waking up in a new place with new things to see each and every single day. Traveling has opened up my mind and changed me in so many ways. I can’t wait to (hopefully) re-live my ideal day over and over again this summer when I backpack through Europe for 3 weeks with my best friend!
This picture is of the two of us in our hometown, but soon enough we’ll have cute photos together in Italy, France, and England! |
What does your ideal day look like? Would you travel like me?
